This week in pictures. One close call deserves another!

A friend of mine sent me these photos and suggested that I frame them in some thoughts. Here they are.

God has put guard rails along the high way of life. They are there for our security. We drive through them at our peril! The young man who owned this truck got away with it.......... this time! When he stepped out of the wreck and looked DOWN I hope that he immediately looked UP and called out thanks to God.

He had been given a second chance.

That second chance is called the MERCY OF GOD.

I think he needs to keep a copy of these pictures on file in case he ever forgets. Come to think of it, MAY BE WE  ALL SHOULD !

DRIVE SAFELY.

This week in pictures. Don't get too close to a buzz saw.

O Crikey! This is what happens when you pull up too close to an aircraft with a rapidly rotating propeller. You get shredded.

Maybe you have felt just like this little aeroplane after you have been in a violent confrontation with someone.  You come away feeling shredded!

A friend of mine once described such an encounter as "Feeling like he walked into a buzz saw!"

Life teaches us to stay well away from certain people. The book of proverbs says: "Stay away from from furious people and with an angry man do not make friends."

We cannot always choose our relationships, but to the degree that you are able, take Solomon's advice to heart: it might save you a lot of plastic surgery!

This week in pictures...times when you just have to run.

Kenny Rogers had a hit song years ago. I don't remember all the words, but somewhere the lyrics went:

"You gotta know when to hold 'em, you gotta know when to fold 'em; you gotta know when to fight and you better know when to run."

Simple words that convey great truth.

Some situations in life are not going to improve, in fact they are only going to get worse!

Maybe you have been fighting a battle that you are simply NOT GOING TO WIN.

The Bible in Ecclesiastes says "There is a time for everything."

There is no shame in saying 'The time has come for me to walk away.'

Perhaps this little picture that I send to you today will help you make a decision that you should have made a long time ago.

This week in pictures

How quickly a pleasure trip can turn into a journey from hell.

Everything can change in a moment. All it takes is a telephone call, a knock on the door, an email or some other "bolt from the blue."

Suddenly we are over the edge and "HANGING ON!"

My mother used a favourite and often quoted verse from the Bible.

"The Lord is a very present help in time of trouble."

Praise the Lord; when there is no other solution and its a long way down, cry out to God and find that He is able to help you without the aid of a tow-truck!

Drive carefully.

This week in pictures. Are you in overload?

When I was sailing in the Merchant Navy our cranes had S.L.W. painted on them. What did S.L.W.  stand for?

Safe loading weight of course!

Don't exceed the appointed load or you may tip over.

Each of us has our own SLW printed somewhere  inside. That's our maximum mental, emotional or spiritual capacity.

Life will teach us what that capacity is and it would be wise not to exceed it. Don't be afraid to say 'NO' when friends, family or the boss want to dump problems and work on you and take you beyond your SLW.

You may finish up like this truck with your tires flat and your springs busted.

There's your thought for the day.
