this week in cartoons. It helps to be the odd one out.

This morning, perhaps in a few minutes time, you will heading down the free-way on your way to work.

The lemming like rush begins all over again.

But where is everybody going, what are they going to do when they get there, and what will it all have amounted to when it's all over?

Nobody on their death-bed will say "I wish that I'd spent more time at the office!"

Jesus said: "Wide is the gate and broad is the road that leadeth to destruction and many go through that gate. Narrow is the way and strait is the gate that leadeth to true life and only few find it."

Perhaps, this March 4th, the little guy with the red life-jacket has something to say to us.

this week in cartoons. Kicking the habit.

The season of Lent is upon us.

My mother was a smoker but on more than one occasion gave up the habit for Lent. That produced dangerous tensions in the house. Once, during her period of abstinence, she broke a hearth brush over my back, after I had playfully shot her with a missile from an elastic gun! She said she was going to kill me and I believed her.

But, coming back to kicking the habit. If you, like mother, are summoning up your will to quit smoking for Lent, try taking some deep breaths of Jesus instead Marlboro's.

John the Baptist said: "When He comes He will lay the ax to the root."

He has marvellous powers to deliver, exceeding those of Nicorette gum, and may even save you from brandishing blunt instruments!

This week in cartoons. Pull up, there's a goat ahead!

Fancy, a goat being in a cloud bank. Hmm! What are you doing flying at such a low altitude into the side of a mountain? There is danger ahead. Better pull up.

God has created all of us for high altitude living, so why scratch with the turkeys when we can soar with the eagles.

This morning ask Christ to elevate your thoughts into the realm of God's possibilities and do some high altitude flying.

It is a wonderful sensation to be on eagles wings of faith with no goats to obstruct the view!

This week in cartoons. We are all going to die.

We are all going to die! There's no hope! Turns out to be a false alarm. "Relax everybody, there's no problem."

Waves of panic sweep the human race periodically.

Y2K was one. "All the computers are going to crash at midnight December 31st."

Another was the scare of the rogue asteroid heading towards Earth. "We might all die." It was a near miss of 250,000 miles!

The latest is Global Warming. "We are all going to drown."

Did you know that there are 365 'Fear Nots' in the Bible. Take one for each day. It's only the intercom light that's on!

This week........ cartoons

Ever looked into sheep's eyes? There's not much going on behind them. In this flock there's one sheep who is actually beginning to think for himself.

In my years of preaching in many parts of the earth I have often found myself like the guy in the middle of the crowd shouting:

"It's time to start thinking for yourselves and stop behaving like sheepoids."

Sure, the Good Shepherd sees us as His sheep, but He calls us  "CHILDREN OF GOD" also. Think about that ! We are a people who with the wisdom and guidance of His Spirit can out think the rest of the great herds of humanity.

So, stamp a name on your woolly sweater other than SHEEPOID, and find a new voice other than "BAA".
