This week. Moral ambivalence.

Casey Anthony, a bizarre trial from the outset. No comments were more convoluted than when her defence lawyer, Jose Baez, told the Jury that they were not there to stand in judgement of his client.
They were there to give her a "Fair trial" and fairness was what it was all about.
What this defence advocate did through passion, persuasion and specious arguments was to take the jury by the hand and lead them into a fog of moral ambivalence. The issue facing these eight women and four men was suddenly no longer about justice being served but about their own view of  what  constituted "fairness".
Instead of the objective standards of the law, Mr Baez faced the jury with their own subjective standards of what "fairness" represented and thus won the day.
We are all headed for our day in court and none of us will get a fair trial. The 10 commandments have pronounced us all guilty. But thank God we have an advocate for our defence. He is a Jewish Lawyer called Jesus and His services are free.
Want his phone #.  It is JER. 33:3.
Enjoy your interview.

This week. Moral ambivalence

Focus on the Family recorded an illustration of moral ambivalence on a recent American Airlines flight.

With passengers seated for take off, the hostess announced with joy that that very morning the Captain's fiancee had given birth to twins and called for a round of applause.

This was given with great enthusiasm accompanied by loud whistles!

Then why the problem? Well, for the very reason that this vast and worthy organization calls itself "Focus on the Family".

The writer points out that the celebration of seeing two new Americans being born into the world trumped the fact that they were born out of wedlock.

A mere detail you may say.

Not according to Dr Dobson's people, who provide the proof that illegitimacy opens the door to a host of social disorders from violence, depression, suicide and general under achievement among children and is perpetuated to future generations.

This week: Moral Ambivalence.

Trouble this week at Women's World Cup Soccer.

Eucharia Uche, coach of the Nigerian Women's Soccer team has drawn the ire of FIFA who have blown the whistle and cried "FOUL".

How did Eucharia break the rules?

She expelled all lesbians from the Flying Eagles soccer team.
If that wasn't enough, in an interview with the New York Times she averred homosexuality to be "unclean and spiritually and morally wrong."

That was too much for Tatiana Haenni, head of women's world cup,who expostulated: "We are here for a FIFA event. It is necessary that we express ourselves neutrally."

In other words "Play soccer and keep your mouth shut."

The world cup is being hosted by Germany this year. A generation ago in that very country six million Jews were exterminated while the populace was commanded to moral neutrality.

So much for moral ambivalence.

I suppose that confirms the old saying : "If you don't stand for something you will fall for anything."

This week. Moral ambivalence.

If it wasn't David Cameron who coined the phrase, he has certainly used it, frequently and forcefully, saying that the fabric of English society cannot be preserved by 'moral ambivalence.'

Of particular grief to him are the polls which show that the traditional bonds of British society are unravelling at an alarming speed.

A nation that once held to the primacy of the family unit now has a 50% divorce rate among those that are married and increasing numbers of couples preferring a common law relationship.

Not only so, but the new avaunt-garde Britain is producing legions of children by un-wed mothers who would bridle at being told that their off spring bear the stigma of being illegitimate.

To such horrendous demographics Prime minister Cameron has said
"No nation can build it's future on a foundation of moral ambivalence."

So far so good, but what is your solution Prime minister?

The two institutions that offer one are the church, declaring the gospel of Christ, and Islam that stridently preaches the restraints of the Koran.

I guess England will have to choose between Mohamed, Jesus or moral oblivion.
