God in the cartoons.

Something we have long suspected; things on earth are not what they are meant to be.

But let us not ascribe this incorrigibility to the Lord.

Genesis Chapter 3 gives the insight into where the real problem lies.

The insertion of rogue letters into the human DNA.

Let's call those letters S    I     N.

The situation is poetically described by A.E Houseman in these words.

" High Heaven and earth ail from prime foundation.
All things to rend the heart are here and all are vain:
Horror, scorn, pride and indignation...
O why did I awake ?
When shall I sleep again?"

Let this not be a cause of distress to you. Easter is fast approaching with the solution to the human predicament... the Cross and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Believe in Him and all will be well.

Maranatha.

Google. When will the world end?

Type in "When will..... " on your google and your sentence will be completed  "..... the world end?"
I can't answer this question, nor can 'google' nor can anybody, not even the J.Ws
Even Jesus did not give the date. He only gave the indicators of the coming event.
Strangely enough, concerning the end of our planetary home, almost everyone is in agreement: the doom-sayers, the global warmers, evangelical believers, the Malthusians, the space-colonizers and respected scientists all are agreed that the end is coming.
But the question asked on 'google' is "When?" and no answer is given.
The person that Jesus used to illustrate the end of time was none other than Noah. He said " In Noah's day all sorts of things were going on until the day of the Flood."
When the end comes it will come suddenly and the safest place that a person can find himself is in the New Ark, wrapped in the love of God. You may be surprised whose there with you.

50 years ago today I converted to Christ.

After  tempestuous teen age years at Nelson Grammar School in Lancashire, which culminated in my expulsion, I had set out on life's adventure.
I travelled the world on a freighter, did various jobs and in my 21 st year enrolled as a mature student at Bede College in Durham.

I had been interviewed by the College President and had assured him that the days of my anarchy were over. He believed me and accepted me into the fraternity.

Then lo, on February 22nd 1962 I was arrested by the blinding illumination of Christ as Son of God.

At midnight I aroused students from their beds to tell them the good news. The next day I interrupted my professors in their lectures and was summoned before the Principal and was suspended from college for a week.

On the promise of no more preaching I was let back in with the hope that whatever brain fever I had would wear off.

It didn't and fifty years later my message remains unmuted but a little more refined. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved"

I must go. I'm going out with Pauline to celebrate my fiftieth birthday.

Google week. Will I ever find true love ?

If you type in  "Will I ever..... " on Google you will immediately have your sentence finished with "..find true love?"

It's a most serious and pressing question on the minds of millions, hence its priority on the Internet search engine.

There are dozens of dating services and true-love match up sites that will help lonely hearts in their quest.

Not only are there those involved in the Match-Up business, but also there are just as many involved in the  Patch-up ministry; the agony columns are filled with the sighs of the lonely, the cries of the injured and queries of those who are still searching.

Don't let Hollywood run away with your imagination. Most of those beautiful people are changing their 'true-loves' every other week'

But let me give the story of  Alex, my Serbian mechanic.
He said:

" I was a bachelor, living in Canada. I wanted to get married because I was thirty years old. So I prayed to God for a wife. Then I went to back to Belgrade. I went to my Orthodox church and there I saw Mina. I knew I wanted someone of the same faith, someone of the same nationality and language and someone who would be brave enough to leave home and come to Canada. When I asked Mina if she would be my wife she prayed for a week and said: "YES". I went back to Serbia later in the year. We got married and she now is the mother of my little girl. They are the true loves of my life"

If that sounds too simple please tell me your alternative!

Better still share with us your own true love story.

Google week: what happens after death?

The name 'Google" came from the young son of a mathematician who was talking about the powers of numbers. He casually asked his little boy "What would we call the figure '1' with a hundred zeroes behind it? Without hesitation the five year old said "It's a google." and thus the adopted name of the search engine with a trillion answers.

The most asked question on 'Google' is :

"What happens after death?"

One bumper sticker reads:

"SALVATION. DON'T LEAVE EARTH WITH OUT IT.'

Solomon, the king of fabled wisdom, said in Ecclesiastes :

"The dust returns to the earth and the spirit to God who gave it."

Paul the Apostle said of Christians:

"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."

But by far the most clear and comforting answer comes from Jesus in John 14:

"Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many apartments. I go to prepare a place for you that where I am there you will also be."

That's better than been  reincarnated as a goat or floating like a balloon in Nirvana.

In the end we don't need a trillion answers to the question of what happens after death. We need the one that matters.

The five all time record quotes and questions on GOOGLE.

We can thank Colin Harbinson, my friend from Mississippi for the GOOGLE series this week.

At Christmas he mentioned in passing that the most quoted introduction to the GOOGLE browser was:

"I want to................... DIE"

You can check it out for yourselves.

This is both staggering and disturbing. That in the Western World, which supposedly has it all and has all the answers, the most commonly recorded wish is " I want to die."

Just as disturbing is the number of respondents who share this nihilistic view and are willing to suggest ways to make it happen.

When I add that suicide is still the main cause of death among teenagers after traffic fatalities, it completes the back ground to a dark and morbid portrait of despair.

But wait, put the gun down! Pick up the Bible and turn to John 10:10.

"I am come that ye may have life and life abundantly."

This week, 50 years ago, at a low point in my life I had a blazing encounter with Jesus Christ, who I found to be alive and well.

For the last half century I have been running a company called
" J.C. Adventure Tours " Call me on 705 733 1307 and I'll tell you how you can get signed up.
