Today is International Women's Day.
It was only recently that I heard of this special designation for ladies.
In India women have turned out in their millions to parade for greater freedom and to protest against rape, female subjugation and marital abuse.
There have also been muted voices in the Nation of Islam where bolder souls have protested against the Bur qua and lobbied for the right to drive motor cars.
Isn't it wonderful that in West equality, franchise, job and career opportunities, access to education are enjoyed by our women folk. They can even freely speak their minds without being gunned down like the Pakistani girl, Malala.
Among the premier reasons for these liberties is the example of Jesus Himself who gave immense honor and dignity to all the women He spoke to.
Mary His mother, Mary Magdalene and many others are enshrined within Gospel history.
I have it on good authority that women in Madagascar still lick their husband's feet as a sign of their submission.
Think of that Pauline when you are off in your car tomorrow to play tennis!

Hugo Chavez, the socialist dictator from Venezuela, is no longer with us.
Yesterday he breathed his last and will be given a state funeral on Friday.
There will be an assembling of all the party faithful and the true socialist big wigs from South America and the Caribbean.
Eulogies will be prated and the "Red Flag Forever" will be sung, all in line with communist doctrine.
What is not commonly known is that Hugo could find no solace in Karl Marx or Fidel Castro in his waning days. With the inexorable approach of Eternity there was a procession of priests making house visits and the faithful were implored for their prayers.
I wasn't present but I can guess he received extreme unction on his death bed and was fully shrived in his confessions.
Ah! After all his chest beating and socialist bombast the great man died like any other common peon from the Venezuelan sugar plantations; meek, penitent, sprinkled with Holy Water and begging God to forgive his sins.
Eternity! So live your life now that there will be no regrets when you stand before the throne of God.

The latest intrusion of women into the world of men's sports turned out to be a fiasco.
Yesterday,Lauren Silberman entered the trials for kickers in the 2013 draft pick for the National Football League. After taking 20 seconds to place the ball and another minute to steady herself, she managed to punt for just 19 yards (average distance 40 yards) and then retired with a strained quadriceps.
When God created the race of mankind, the Bible telling states:
"Male and female created He them"
No gender-blender, no androgyny, no Unisex: simply Male and female. And there IS a difference.
Why then this insistent urge among women to try and enter and compete in provinces that for centuries have been male?
And can anyone tell me why men aren't clamouring to play on the Ladies Professional Golf tour or sing in the Luton Girl's Choir.
There is something special, unique, sweet and wholly appealing when women move in their God appointed roles and are simply FEMININE.
Ladies please understand this and stay away from automatic weapons, NFL trials and people who give you butch haircuts!
