Au Revoir Morsi

It didn't take long; a year from start to finish and Egypt's President Morsi was dishonorably retired from office yesterday.

One day he was in power in the President' Palace; the next day he was under arrest by order of the Egyptian Army.

The West is crying "foul" saying the democratic process has been violated, but if the 22 million who signed the petition to get rid of the Muslim Brotherhood are to be counted, democracy seems to be alive and well. That is ' Democracy Egyptian style'.

The Western brand of democracy is historically twinned with Biblical principles that exhort fair-play and allow a sizable minority to be governed by a slightly larger majority of the population

Not so the Koran. This so called 'Holy Book' stridently demands  the overthrow of  all powers non-Islamic and establishment of a ruling Caliphate.

Well, welcome to the new order, Egypt. Millions of young people on cell phones, twitter and face-book said:

"Later for the old Mullah's and the old dogmas. Give us a voice and give us a chance and we will show you what it means to break out of the stone-age."

May God help them realize their dream.

Jubilate.

Letter from America. Sudden Death.

The whole of the West of America is tinder dry.
In the Arizona highlands this weekend, a roaring inferno raced towards the town of Yarnell.

A group of brave men stood in its path seeking to build a fire brake. There was an unexpected shift in the wind and in a matter of seconds the whole nineteen member team was incinerated even as they wrapped themselves in their fire retardant blankets.

Sudden death.

In my own province over the weekend of Canada Day the same number of people met violent ends through drownings, boating accidents, road wrecks and the like.

The Word of God gives us a somber reminder in the book of James that our life on earth is but 'a vapor that appears for a little while then vanishes away'.

On a bumper-sticker I read these words

"Salvation. Don't leave Earth without it"

Permit me to pass on those words as you anticipate your season in the sun.

Jubilate.
