For your summer enjoyment.

For my second book selection of the summer I choose Mitchell Zuckoff's
"Frozen in Time"

This is  an utterly enthralling narrative of the endurance, courage and ultimate survival of two American air crews stranded on the Greenland Ice-Cap during World War Two.
Running parallel to the gripping account of the rescue of these crews is the effort of a dedicated group of volunteers seventy years later, to locate the missing aircraft and bring back the remains of those still frozen in the glacier.

Apart from the drama of the narrative, what struck me was the faith of the airmen who were stranded on the ice-cap for nearly six months. Without exception they prayed everyday and saw miraculous interventions and answers to their prayers.

Their story proves the old adage that "there are no atheists in fox holes."

The location of the aircraft now buried sixty feet deep in the Greenland ice..... well that's another story.

Jubilate.

For your Summer enjoyment.

Here is a mid-Summer mini-series on five books that rank right at the top in my library.
Let's begin the "THE DREAM AND THE TOMB."  by Robert Payne.

This is an excellent, action packed thriller and a 'must' read for any one who wishes to bone up on the history of the church.
Here we have a comprehensive account of the eight religious wars between the Christian West and the Muslim East that dominated the Middle Ages. Calling themselves 'pilgrims of Christ' thousands of Europeans set out on a saga of faith to liberate Jerusalem and the the Holy Places.
Payne brings to life the crusader's thousand mile journey: the deprivation, the desperate and brutal raids and ambushes, the epic battles for Antioch, Jerusalem and Acre, the legend of Saladin and Richard the Lion Heart and so much more.

Dream and the Tomb captures not only the events but the VERY ESSENCE of the Crusades.
This book will keep you on the edge of your hammock from start to finish.

Jubilate.
