Hollywood in all its glory

There is trouble among the beautiful people. The paragons of political correctness and the upholders of the shining example to lesser mortals (people like you and me) have got it wrong.
A nasty fight has broken out a week before the Oscar awards.
Will Smith and his wife, iconic figures among the black community, will not be coming to the party.
They have broadcast their hurt feelings to the world, saying that not enough black actors have been honoured at the celebration and that this reflects nothing more than racism from the adjudicating body.
This panel, by the way, is nearly six thousand in number and has a predominance of white males over the age of sixty.
In short, they are prejudiced towards their own kind and for years have skewed the cherished golden Oscar awards in favour of the white race.

A horrifying charge, you will agree. That the highest awards among the acting profession were not truly reflecting merit but were been given on the basest of motive, white prejudice.
Now this extravaganza of wealth, sex, fame, star-power, self adoration, concupiscence, fantasia, celluloid magnificence and pompous-show will have to redeem itself, and do it quickly. After all, money and prestige are on the line.
Are we not glad that, among the glittering galaxies of stars, Jesus Christ is called the "Bright and Morning Star." The morning star is the last to shine when day-break dawns and, as the lesser lights wink out, it remains shining when all the others have gone.
Of course, Jesus will not be getting an Oscar this year. That big celebration is slated for a time yet to be revealed, but O when it comes it WILL BE FUN.

The latest on Climate Change

The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water is too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulate, at Bergen, Norway.
Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard of temperatures in the Arctic Zone.
Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met with as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes.
Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed that the gulf stream is still very warm.
Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have completely disappeared.
Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic Ocean, while vast shoals of herring and smelts which have never ventured so far north, are being encountered in old seal fishing grounds.
Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable.

P.s. I must apologize. This report was published in November 2nd, 1922 in the Washington Post.... 93 years ago!
