What are those cardinal facts that make Easter the single greatest cause for celebration in the history of the human race?
1) Jesus Christ, the Son of God, having lived a sinless life on earth for 33 years, was crucified outside Jerusalem on the Jewish Passover Day.
2) He accomplished this death on behalf of all mankind, taking our sin upon Himself, in order that all who believe in Him should be acquitted of their sins by Almighty God.
3) Having died, Jesus was buried in a tomb, which was afterwards guarded and sealed to prevent his followers stealing His body.
4) Three days later, Christ was resurrected by the power of God and showed Himself to several hundred of His followers before returning to Heaven.
5) Before He left earth He assured his disciples He would be coming back but, in the meantime, they should get about the business of telling as many people as possible what they had seen and heard.
In 1962 I heard and believed the message and 54 years later I'm telling it to you. If you know of better news please tell me.
