The secrets of the Rich. RG. LeTourneau

Dear David, we could scarcely omit R.G. Tourneau in our series on the secrets of the wealthy.

R.G. was the founder of the Caterpillar Motor company. He was a creative genius with 35 patents to his name.
When asked the secret of his success he said:

 "God runs my business."

There were many proofs that God did indeed run R.G.'s business.

In the  book "Moving Mountains and Men" there is an account of how Le Tourneau was given the contract to move the earth for the building of the Hoover Dam. From the commencement of the project R.G. made it clear that none of his men would work on Sunday. The government was astonished and said that if that were the case there would be a penalty for every day worked over the deadline.

The job was finished three months ahead of schedule.

At the outset of founding his business R.G. vowed to give one tenth of his earnings to God: when he finally died of a stroke in 1969 he was donating 90% of his income to the Lord and was still a wealthy man.

He made this comment towards the end of his life.

"You can't out give God. I've tried all my life and failed."

Jubilate.

Ian
