For your Summer enjoyment.

Here is a mid-Summer mini-series on five books that rank right at the top in my library.
Let's begin the "THE DREAM AND THE TOMB."  by Robert Payne.

This is an excellent, action packed thriller and a 'must' read for any one who wishes to bone up on the history of the church.
Here we have a comprehensive account of the eight religious wars between the Christian West and the Muslim East that dominated the Middle Ages. Calling themselves 'pilgrims of Christ' thousands of Europeans set out on a saga of faith to liberate Jerusalem and the the Holy Places.
Payne brings to life the crusader's thousand mile journey: the deprivation, the desperate and brutal raids and ambushes, the epic battles for Antioch, Jerusalem and Acre, the legend of Saladin and Richard the Lion Heart and so much more.

Dream and the Tomb captures not only the events but the VERY ESSENCE of the Crusades.
This book will keep you on the edge of your hammock from start to finish.

Jubilate.

Ian
