OHIP or IHOP

April, 2014, not the best of months for my wife, Pauline.
In the first week she came home limping from the indoor tennis club. Last week she had an operation on her hand to straighten out her baby finger (dupuytrens disease). She will be away from her beloved tennis court for at least another month.
So much for the bad news. The good news is that for the operation, the after-care, the X-ray on her knee, the upcoming MRI and the therapy, she simply shows her little card (courtesy of the Ontario government) and all medical bills are taken care of.
In Canada, we may be perched near the tundra and endure four months of winter, but it is still a great place to live. This is especially so when age creeps up and things go "snap, crackle, pop."

To our South, in the States, they have a national fast-food chain called IHOP (International House of Pancakes). In Canada we have OHIP (Ontario Health Insurance Plan).
When we reach our seventies we'll gladly pass on the pancakes and maple syrup. Just give us that little card that Pauline will be using when she goes to the docs this week.

Jubilate.

Ian
