It may never see circulation if the French have anything to do with it.
They are saying that the minting of this coin is raising the specter of old divisions among the European powers and should not be allowed to go forward.
What a pity!
Or perhaps the real reason is that the French were well and truly beaten in this decisive battle and their pretensions as the leading European power came to an abrupt end.
A consequence for which I, as an Englishman, give humble and hearty thanks to God.
