And you think you have a lousy job?



Deriving dignity from honest labor may be equally important to the salary you receive from doing it.

If you had to turn up to work next Monday and spend the day sniffing armpits you might well say "Forget the dignity. There is none. Double my wages!"

I always tip my garbage men at Christmas and, this year, brought them cigars back from Cuba. It is my way of saying "Thanks for doing a job that I wouldn't want to do."

It also follows a scriptural injunction to give honour to whom honour is due.

We all meet people everyday who do jobs that make us cringe.

Why not show them some appreciation; at least they are working and not drawing welfare.
