Israel, the mystery and the miracle nation

May 14th, 1948, David Ben Gurion proclaimed Israel to be a "nation among the nations."  Since then,  against all odds, this nation, initially numbering a mere 400,000 souls, has not only survived but mightily succeeded.

Israel is both a mystery and a miracle:

In land area it is about the same size as New Jersey.

In age it is less than a full generation old.

In population it has only 6.5 million people.

And yet:

It is the fourth largest nuclear power on earth.

It has the most powerful and well equipped army in the Middle East

There are more Jewish Nobel prize winners than any other ethnic group.

Tel Aviv has become the centre of the world's diamond industry.

Jewish companies and interests control the world financial markets.

How can all this be explained other than by the X factor of God? Who in making a covenant with Abraham said.

"I will bless you and I will bless everyone who befriends you." (Gen 12)

My tiny pea brain cannot figure out most of the problems that confront humanity, but this much must surely be true:

It pays to be a friend of Israel.
