Seventeen years ago I was preaching at a conference in Melbourne, Australia. This is the city where you can experience all four seasons in one day! On this occasion a blast of wind from Antarctica smashed a glass door leading into the building where the meetings were being held.
It was Australia, it was freezing and Pauline had not come dressed for winter in Melbourne.
Up stepped a pastor's wife from the Outback and kindly gave her a cashmere-wool sweater to keep her warm. Not only that but she refused to receive it back when Pauline offered to return it.
Fast forward to 2013. Tomorrow the Lassey's will step off a plane at Toronto and be welcomed by a snow storm.
With me in the car will be two Canadian Winter coats generously donated by friends to keep their Australian blood from freezing.
Mrs Lassey's coat will be a Scottish lamb's wool jacket.
Her gift of a cashmere sweater returned with interest by the Lord! (Luke 6:38)
