This week: Moral Ambivalence.

Trouble this week at Women's World Cup Soccer.

Eucharia Uche, coach of the Nigerian Women's Soccer team has drawn the ire of FIFA who have blown the whistle and cried "FOUL".

How did Eucharia break the rules?

She expelled all lesbians from the Flying Eagles soccer team.
If that wasn't enough, in an interview with the New York Times she averred homosexuality to be "unclean and spiritually and morally wrong."

That was too much for Tatiana Haenni, head of women's world cup,who expostulated: "We are here for a FIFA event. It is necessary that we express ourselves neutrally."

In other words "Play soccer and keep your mouth shut."

The world cup is being hosted by Germany this year. A generation ago in that very country six million Jews were exterminated while the populace was commanded to moral neutrality.

So much for moral ambivalence.

I suppose that confirms the old saying : "If you don't stand for something you will fall for anything."
