Google week: what happens after death?
The name 'Google" came from the young son of a mathematician who was talking about the powers of numbers. He casually asked his little boy "What would we call the figure '1' with a hundred zeroes behind it? Without hesitation the five year old said "It's a google." and thus the adopted name of the search engine with a trillion answers.
The most asked question on 'Google' is :
"What happens after death?"
One bumper sticker reads:
"SALVATION. DON'T LEAVE EARTH WITH OUT IT.'
Solomon, the king of fabled wisdom, said in Ecclesiastes :
"The dust returns to the earth and the spirit to God who gave it."
Paul the Apostle said of Christians:
"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
But by far the most clear and comforting answer comes from Jesus in John 14:
"Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many apartments. I go to prepare a place for you that where I am there you will also be."
That's better than been reincarnated as a goat or floating like a balloon in Nirvana.
In the end we don't need a trillion answers to the question of what happens after death. We need the one that matters.
