They killed my only son.

"They killed my only son" Thus spoke the impassioned father, Richard Martinez, after his 20 year old boy was gunned down yesterday by a fellow student who went on a shooting rampage in a California campus.
Looking at the picture of the killer, 22 year old Elliot Rodger, I was struck by the similarity between him and the music leader in my grand-daughter's church youth group. They could almost pass for twins. Yet one has committed a terrible homicide and the other is due to go on mission trip to India next month. Heaven and Hell in two young people of the same age.
"What," I asked the Laura the youth group leader, "made the difference in these two kid's lives?"  She replied, "Jesus Christ."
I replied "No, Laura, YOU DID"
"You made yourself available to all these kids to pray with, counsel, challenge, love and listen to." If Elliot Rodgers had had someone like you in his life this tragedy would never have happened."

I guess she had never seen it like that before and maybe you have not considered the impact and effect that you can have on some one's life. Think about it. Heaven or hell could hang on a simple conversation you have with that 'some one' today.
